Happy Easter

Hope everyone had a peaceful Easter Sunday. We all ate too much candy!
This is a card that Morgan helped me make. We sent some to the grandparents and great-grandparents so I thought we would share it with all of you.

First Date

This is a little late but getting Brittany to willingly let me post a picture of her is just not going to happen. I had to sneak into her room and find this picture.
Brittany's first date was to the school Valentine’s Day dance with a boy named Hank. They have been friends since we moved here and now that she is old enough to date he has been calling a lot more. He was so nervous when he picked her up so I tried to be nice. (They were both glad Dad was out of town.) As I watched them drive down the street I had a flashback to her first day of Kindergarten and tears came to my eyes. We are so anxious for our children to grow up and yet it hurts a little to send them out into the big world alone. It’s hard to believe she will be graduating from High School in 2 more years.

Hop On Pop

Zane’s favorite book is Hop On Pop. He “reads” along as I read the story to him and he loves the game played with red balls on the wall. But his favorite page of all is “Red Red They call me Red.” I am not sure but I think he wants the fuzzy red hair. He points at the character and says “I want it! I want it!”

When we get to the end of the book he turns back to the page about Red. “Do you want the red hair?” I ask him and he giggles. Then, with longing eyes he looks at me and says “I want it.” Sometimes I hear him in the bedroom saying, “I want it” and I know that he has found his favorite book.

Adventures with Marshmallow

Morgan insisted on taking her guinea pig, Marshmallow, to the grocery store with us. She proudly showed him to everyone we passed as we hurried down the aisles. Most people ignored her, a few took a second look, but the lady re-filling the milk talked to her. Morgan explained this was her pet and its name was Marshmallow. The lady then asked if she liked to eat marshmallows. Morgan got the most disgusted look on her face and she quickly said no. She hugged her beloved pet and as we turned down another aisle she assured her guinea pig that she would never eat him.

Play Day!

Outside our window, it sounds like a water faucet is running. The snow and frost on the roof begin to melt as the temperature slowly climbs above freezing. The air is as thick as pea soup and we can barely make out the neighbor’s house – not because of blowing snow, today it is fog. While we are grateful the wind is not blowing and it is slowly getting warmer, we are longing for some sunshine. The snow piles are not much fun to play on anymore. They are just dirty and wet. We drive by the park to get to Morgan’s school and she asks if we can stop and play for a minute. So, my friend and I took the kids to an indoor gym in Pocatello. They jumped on trampolines, climbed rock walls, and slid down the giant slide. (Of course, I forgot my camera.) Morgan’s favorite activity was running and jumping into the large pit filled with foam squares. Zane’s favorite was the slide. It was so nice to get out of the house and have some fun!

Toybox

When Morgan was about Zane’s age our neighbor gave her this toybox. It has shelves above the toybox and it looks like a giant dollhouse. Maybe that is why the kids always take the toys out and climb inside. The toybox has provided hours of entertainment – who needs toys.

This picture of Zane could be very valuable when he is older. I am sure he will do almost anything to keep me from sharing it with his high school friends. Hummmm…

Happy Birthday Grandma and Grandpa!

Morgan loves birthdays. Just the thought of having another birthday this year has her so excited that she can’t go to sleep some nights. She has a long list of all the things she wants for her birthday. When I reminded her that it was Grandma and Grandpa Berry’s birthdays this weekend she insisted that we make a cake.
We were a little late, but last night we made a Hummingbird cake (a great use for two very ripe bananas). Morgan was sure we were going to send the cake in the mail to Grandma and Grandpa. I had to convince her that it would be better if we ate it for them and maybe sent some cookies.

So, we raise this piece of cake to the best grandparents in the world! Hope you had a wonderful weekend. The cake was delicious!
