Sunday afternoon was so beautiful! We loaded up the kids and went to feed the fish at the fish hatchery just a few miles from our home. The kids had so much fun watching the fish jump to eat the food. Zane told me the fish were taking a bath. Even the Dads had fun watching the BIG fish, and wishing they could catch them. We had a couple of close calls but fortunately no one fell in the water.

State Track Meet
Brittany spent most of last week in Boise for the State Track Meet. She injured her ankle in the meet before Districts and wasn’t sure she would make it to State. But she suffered and endured and was so excited to go. She tied for 4th place, which is the same place she had last year. She was a little disappointed but this has been such a crazy season. Before her injury she was jumping 5’2” so she was bummed to get out at 5’.
Now this week is finals and she is in a crunch to get things done to make up all the work she missed last week.
Way to go Brittany! We think you are amazing!

Little Footprints
At the end of the day, as the sunlight dims, there is a glare that comes across the living room floor. Standing in my kitchen I can see the evidence of a busy day - little footprints going in every direction.
On hands and knees, I wipe the floor clean and notice there are only a few big footprints. I know that someday all the little footprints will be a faded memory. For now, I cherish the quiet at the end of the day and the ritual of wiping the floor clean in preparation for another day of little footprints.

Happy Birthday Kyndra
Brittany and I saw these cupcakes on the Today Show a few weeks ago and decided to make them for my friend Kyndra’s birthday.
(I had to make a plate of them for my family as well.)
I must say they actually turned out really cute. Kyndra said it was almost disgusting because it looked like a real meatball on top of the cupcake but boy are they yummy. Brittany re-wrote the words to “On Top of Spaghetti” for her birthday card and it all turned out so cute. Morgan wasn’t too sure about the “meatball” either so Brittany made the sacrifice and ate 2 chocolate truffle meatballs.

Owie Toe!
While putting Zane’s pajamas on, I noticed his big toe was very red. Two days later it was red AND crusty. Scott has had several in-grown toenails and knew what was happening. (Zane has his dad’s toes.) We spent the weekend soaking Zane’s foot and trying to keep a band-aid on it. If he bumped it at all he would scream, “Owie, owie toe!”
Monday afternoon we were able to see the doctor and she confirmed our diagnosis. He is on antibiotics to clear up the infection and then we will see what needs to be done with the toenail. He played it up real good and cried the entire time I was talking to the doctor. She also gave me a prescription for Tylenol with Codeine. She told me I could give it to him or take it myself so one of us would feel better.

Today While the Sun Shines
It is so nice to finally be able to spend some time outside. It feels like Spring is really here.
However, Morgan is not quite ready to put away her snow boots.
Morgan is thrilled that Zane is old enough to ride bikes with her. He hasn’t figured out how to make the peddles work but he has fun. And Morgan insists that she needs her training wheels off. Maybe we will try it this weekend. They grow up too fast!

Princess!
Brittany decided two weeks before Prom that she wanted to go. With Track practice, work, and school there was no time to go shopping for a dress. With the help of friends and neighbors we tracked down the perfect dress for her to borrow. She looked like a princess.
One of the other moms planned a scavenger hunt for them in Pocatello that afternoon. Then they drove to Idaho Falls to eat at Olive Garden before returning to Pocatello for the dance. I told her to be home before midnight so they had to leave the dance a little early to get all the way back to our house and she made it right on time.
It was a long day but she had so much fun and was glad that she went.

Sand Castles
The sun is shining and the snow is melting. While Zane was asleep Morgan and I worked on a sand castle together. She was so excited to use the buckets and shovels for sand today. We are practicing for a trip to the coast this summer and trying to determine the optimal sand conditions for the best castle towers.
Yes, this is our sandbox / front yard. We are trying to get some more grass to grow but the sand keeps blowing in. (I think we should forget grass and fill it in with rocks.)
Once we finished our towers Morgan wanted to run them over or stomp on them and build a new castle. She has visions of bigger and better castles with taller towers for all of the lady bugs to live in. I am not sure where she got the lady bug idea.

Happy Birthday to Me!
It’s always fun to have a birthday. Even though the kids were sick and the house was a mess I managed to enjoy the day. Scott and Brittany got me these really cool candles and I bought myself a new camera. (It takes much better pictures.)
The night before my birthday I went out for dessert with a few friends. Then on Saturday we went to dinner with the neighbors. I was hoping the dish fairy would show up and wash my dishes but once again, she didn’t find my house. Maybe next time . . .
Thank you to all of you who sent cards or called. It’s nice to be remembered.

Happy Spring!
Morgan put on her boots and mittens and went out to play. She used her new sand bucket and shovel to scoop snow and build a snow castle.
Scott just re-seeded one end of the lawn. It's a law of nature - if you plant before Mother's Day there will be more snow or a freeze. Will we ever have flowers and green grass? Tomorrow will probably be summer with scorching heat so, I guess, we will enjoy today.
