Happy Birthday Scott!

Yesterday was Scott’s birthday. Since he is only 39 we kept it low key so as not to spoil the big 40 bash for next year. (I’m already making plans – hehehe.)

I cooked enchiladas and we had some friends over. I also made him his favorite Jell-O poke cake with raspberry Jell-O. As soon as the guests left he got the cake out to enjoy another piece.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

[Note to self: never leave the “children” unattended with the camera.]
[ I had to delete about 40 random, blurry, weird pictures from my camera this morning.]

{save it for later}

While cleaning out my refrigerator, I came across an assortment of baggies. Zane has been on a “save it for later” kick lately - he wants a baggie for everything. (Good thing I bought a huge box at Costco!)

In case you can’t tell, I found: 2 granola bars (unopened), a handful of crayons, 2 blue blocks, 2 quarters of a grilled cheese sandwich with a couple bites from each, 2 chunks of pineapple, and bits of ham and cheese. (Two is definitely his favorite number.)

The day will come when I miss all of his two-ness. I wish I could bottle his being two and save it for later.

{St. Patrick's Day}

When I picked Morgan up from school she asked me why I was wearing GREEN too. She thought St. Patrick’s Day was only for Kindergarten. Dad convinced her that you should hug anyone not wearing GREEN. (Guess who was not wearing GREEN yesterday.)

After a delicious dinner of sweet and sour meatballs we ate GREEN popsicles with our chocolate cake.

Morgan's class made festive hats.
Here’s to GREEN.

Ahhh Spring!

The sun is peeking through the gray, dreary clouds and the icy wind is at a steady constant rate so the kids want to be outside.

They went to check on the horse, pet the dog, and jump on the trampoline.
Friday is the first day of Spring!

I Have a Loose Tooth!

Last Saturday Morgan asked me to pull her loose tooth. It was leaning forward and about to fall out of her mouth. There was really no pulling involved but she was so excited.

Then, Tuesday she says, “I think I have another loose tooth.” The tooth next to the one she just lost was leaning over into the now empty space. I guess without its friend it couldn’t stand on its own. This tooth also just fell into my hand.

We go to the dentist on Monday and I think he is going to want to pull the other tooth on top that Morgan almost knocked out on Thanksgiving Day. It is really looking yucky.

So, the Tooth Fairy has been camped out at our house. How much does she leave your kids for their teeth? I never know how much to do. Morgan was thrilled with two shiny quarters each time but maybe I have set the standard too high. The Tooth Fairy is going to be broke by the time Zane starts loosing teeth. (He is already insisting that I need to pull his teeth out too.)

Dinner Conversations

Just thought I would share a fairly typical dinner conversation. This was last night -

Mom: Yum, homemade bread and homemade jam! I am the perfect mom.
Mo: Yes you are . . . and so is Brittany. (Brit raises her eyebrows.)
Dad: Morgan, eat.
Z: That’s b-scusting!
Mom: No, it’s just meat with ketchup on it.
Z: I need more ketchup. (Hugging ketchup bottle) I love it, love it.
Dad: Morgan, eat.
Mom: Why are there peas on the floor?
Mo: They’re mine. They don’t want me to eat them.
Mom: Where is the ketchup bottle?
Z: White here. (Pulls bottle out from under the table.) I need it!
Dad: Morgan, eat.
Mom: Your peas on the floor again.
Z: I peed
Dad: Different pea. Morgan, eat.
Mom: Eat your meat, Zane.
Z: I not like it! I need ketchup!
Brit: I’m done
Dad: What’s for dessert?
Mom: Morgan, eat.

Then the table was cleaned, the teeth were brushed, pajamas were found, and it was time for a story!

Gotta love 'em!

Easy Dessert

I think my blog is feeling neglected. I haven’t posted in awhile – not because nothing is going on. So, I thought I would share a quick and easy recipe.

I don’t know if other husbands are like mine but every night as we are finishing dinner mine says, “What’s for dessert?” Some days I just don’t have time and he is lucky to have dinner. But here is a quick, last-minute dessert idea.

You will need:
2 Blueberry Muffin Mixes, and ingredients required to make them
¼ cup Brown Sugar
1 tsp. Cinnamon

Mix the muffins according to package directions. (We like the Great Value brand best.) Instead of using a muffin pan, grease a pie pan then pour prepared muffin mix into pan.

Combine the brown sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle on top. Bake according to package directions or until browned on top. Allow to cool before serving or cake will be crumbly.

And you have a quick, easy coffee cake. Blueberry is our favorite but you could do other flavors as well.

Happy Baking!
