Let’s go to the {Zoo}

Friday the kindergarten classes took a field trip to the zoo in Pocatello. Zane and I decided to join in the fun. We didn’t get to ride the bus with all the kids but we rode over with our friends.

We saw deer, buffalo, ducks, geese, mountain goats, a bobcat, coyotes, Canadian lynx, bears, and peacocks. Morgan liked all the animals but was disappointed the peacocks didn’t show off their tails.

Morgan and Ashton loved “digging” for fossils.

Zane and Kevin weren’t so sure.

Zane liked the bears the best (even though they were a little stinky).

Zane thought the bears lived in the teepee (I think because of the pictures of bears on the outside of it). I finally convinced him to go inside and take a look. He quickly came back out and said, “Yep. The bears live there.”

After some fun on the playground . . .

And a snack in the park . . .

It was time to head for home. I had a hard time catching up with Morgan so I didn’t get very many pictures of her. Morgan did say it was the BEST field trip ever.

I Love Your Eyebrows!

I tackled Zane and began changing his diaper. Frustrated that he had no desire to be potty trained, I was carefully planning my words of attack to let him know how I felt about changing his diaper. Before I could say anything he said, “I love your eyebrows Mom. They are so cute!”

I can honestly say I have never been complimented on my eyebrows. I have heard things like, “Do you pluck?” or “Wow, your eybrows are dark.” But no one has told me they were cute.

Laughing hysterically I realized, someday I will miss our diaper changing conversations.

What's Cookin'

Morgan’s class made cookbooks for their moms for Mother’s Day. She has been so excited about the project. A couple weeks ago she told me they were making a surprise but she couldn’t tell me what it was. Then a few days later she said she was making me a cookbook. (She is not good at keeping secrets.) I have been anxious to see what kind of cookbook it would be.

This is so cute! I had to share Morgan’s recipe and a couple of her friends. I laughed so hard I cried. It’s amazing what kids remember!

Humm. . . Maybe we will have Chicken Peanut Butter Noodle Soup for dinner. Sounds like it makes a lot though. We might have to invite the neighbors over to enjoy it with us.

My Princess

Brittany had made up her mind – she was not going to the prom. Then she came home from school and found a bowl of fish (real swimmers), a bag of Swedish Fish (candy), a vase of beautiful daisies, and a note requesting her accompaniment to the prom. All this from a senior boy that she barely knew. Mysteriously, her best friend seemed to know about the proposal before Brittany did. Hummm. . .

So with only a couple weeks until the big day, Brittany had to squeeze “get ready for the prom” onto her already full To Do List. She found a dress to borrow and decided to leave her hair in its natural beauty.

(Dad had to get in on the photo shoot.)

Other than the boy showing up 40 minutes early, she had a great time and is glad she went. She was even crowned the Junior Princess.
